How this check works
Manglik dosha is flagged when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house — measured from the Lagna, the Moon and Venus, counting whole signs as the classical texts do. Then the classical cancellations (bhanga) are applied: Mars in its own or exalted sign, Jupiter/Venus with or aspecting Mars, and the sign-specific exceptions of Parashara. Only dosha that survives all cancellations counts.
