JobTrail
BROWSER EXTENSION · FREE
Capture any job posting, with one click.
JobTrail Capture adds a small badge to every job posting you view — on LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday. It shows ✓ Applied when that exact posting is already on your trail, or + Capture to queue it for import. Everything is keyed by job ID, so the same role in two cities stays two applications.

NEW · SECOND EXTENSION
JobTrail Autofill — write it once, never type it again.
A separate extension from Capture, for the other half of the grind: every Workday, LinkedIn and Glassdoor form asking for the same details again and again. Fill in your profile once — then a single click fills any application form.

Version 1.0.1 · free forever · your details never leave your browser
Installs just like Capture
Download the Autofill .zip above — unzip it for Chrome/Edge/Brave, keep it zipped for Firefox.
Click the extension icon, fill your profile once. Then on any job application form, click ✨ Autofill this form.
What it fills
- The repeated stuff — name, email, phone, street, city, state, ZIP, country, LinkedIn, portfolio.
- The legal questions — work authorization, sponsorship, gender, race/ethnicity, veteran and disability status.
- Only empty fields — it never overwrites what you typed, never checks boxes, never uploads your resume, never submits. Filled fields get a teal outline so you can review everything first.
Install in a minute
For Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera and other Chromium browsers.
Download the .zip above and unzip it anywhere (e.g. your Documents folder — keep the folder; deleting it removes the extension).
Type chrome://extensions in your address bar and turn on Developer mode (top-right toggle).
Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped jobtrail-capture-chromium folder.
Pin it to your toolbar if you like, then visit any job posting — the JobTrail badge appears bottom-right. In JobTrail, open Settings → Import from extension.
Firefox
Firefox only allows sideloading on Developer Edition, Nightly or ESR — the regular release will refuse the install. Everything else works identically, including import into JobTrail.
Open about:config, accept the warning, search xpinstall.signatures.required and set it to false.
Open about:addons → gear icon → Install Add-on From File… → select the downloaded .zip.
Visit any job posting — the badge appears bottom-right. In JobTrail, open Settings → Import from extension.
Safari
Apple only ships Safari extensions through the App Store (paid developer membership), so this is the free do-it-yourself path on your own Mac — about five minutes, once.
Download the Chromium .zip above and unzip it on your Mac. Install Xcode from the App Store if you haven't.
In Terminal, run:
xcrun safari-web-extension-converter ~/Downloads/jobtrail-capture-chromium
and accept the defaults.
Open the generated Xcode project and press Run (⌘R).
In Safari: Settings → Advanced → check Show Develop menu in menu bar; then Develop → Allow Unsigned Extensions.
Safari → Settings → Extensions → turn on JobTrail Capture. The badge and JobTrail import then work as everywhere else.
What it does
- Already-applied badges — green ✓ Applied Mar 3 on any posting you've already tracked, keyed by exact job ID across platforms.
- One-click capture — queues the posting's platform, job ID, title, company and location for import into JobTrail.
- Zero duplicates — importing skips anything already on your trail and tells you what was skipped.
- Private by design — the extension only reads the job page you're already viewing. Nothing is uploaded anywhere; your data stays in your browser.
Questions
- Why isn't it in the Chrome Web Store?
- It's coming — publishing needs a Chrome developer account. Sideloading takes a minute and works identically.
- Does it scrape LinkedIn or Indeed?
- No. It only reads the page you already opened in your browser, and extracts the job ID from the URL — the same thing you'd do by hand, automated.
- Does it work in Firefox?
- Yes — grab the Firefox build above. Sideloading needs Firefox Developer Edition, Nightly or ESR (the regular release blocks unsigned installs).
- What about Safari?
- Yes, with a five-minute Xcode conversion on your Mac — steps above. There's no App Store listing; that would need a paid Apple developer membership.
- Is Autofill the same extension as Capture?
- No — they're two separate extensions that solve the two halves of applying. Capture tracks the jobs you view; Autofill fills the application forms. Install one or both.
- Where does Autofill keep my details?
- Only in your browser's extension storage. Nothing is uploaded, synced or shared anywhere — the same privacy promise as everything in JobTrail.
- Can I install it on my phone?
- Phone browsers don't take extensions. On mobile, use the Autofill form button in JobTrail's Add dialog instead — paste the posting URL and it fills in the details.
