The right first letter for your baby's name
Vedic tradition names the child from the Moon's nakshatra-pada at birth. Enter the birth details — we compute the exact pada and starting syllable (akshar), then suggest beautiful names, including a first-of-its-kind collection of future names coined for the next generation.

Time unknown? Noon works fine — the Moon moves only ~13° a day, so the pada is usually certain.

How it works
Each of the 27 nakshatras is divided into 4 padas (3°20′ each), and tradition assigns one starting syllable (akshar) to each pada — from the Moon's exact position at birth. A name beginning with that syllable is said to resonate with the child's birth star. We compute the Moon's sidereal longitude with our JPL-validated engine, find the pada, and look up the classical syllable table.
Syllable tables vary slightly between regional traditions; ours follows the widely-published consensus. Families traditionally confirm the final name with their purohit.
